FEATURES & ADVANTAGES
A further advantage of the ROMEX®-TRASS™-BED-SYSTEM is that when it is used on paved stone surfaces, there is much less efflorescence on natural and concrete works stone than when unsuitable portland cement is used. TRASSTM connects itself mainly to the hydrated lime product calcium hydroxide that is formed during cement stone formation. If hydrated lime reaches the surface, it combines with the CO2 in the atmosphere to form chalk which is visible in the form of effl orescence. This can be almost completely avoided when using the ROMEX®-TRASS™-BED-SYSTEM. The ROMEX®-TRASS™-BED & GROUTING-SYSTEM has been used for many years in the private as well as public sector, on cobble stones and with slab surfaces. When laid expertly, ROMEX® offers a warranty of 10 years.
prevents almost all discoloration caused by efflorescence
• prevents waterlogging and frost damage
• high strengths of over 5000 PSI (>35 N/mm²)
• 100% frost and de-icing salt resistant
• easy and proven application
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT: WE’VE GOT PROOF
The Technical University Munich Test Centre for transport infrastructure construction was given the assignment by ROMEX® to test the stability of bonded paved stone surfaces. Both test surfaces were tested with a total of 100,000 rollovers in both directions with phased increases in wheel loads of:
5 kN | 1.124 lbs (“heavy cars“),
10 kN | 2.249 lbs (“small transporters“),
25 kN | 5.622 lbs (“light trucks”) and
50 kN | 11.244 lbs (“heavy trucks“).
In order to do this, the rolling test station was fitted with two truck tires in order to guarantee simultaneous loads on both test surfaces.
The test surfaces showed no damage or significant deformation
WATER PERMEABILITY: >3,3 METER/HOUR [M/H] / 130+ INCH/HOUR [IPH]
Water flows right through it: ROMEX®-TRASS™-BED & GROUTING-SYSTEM is an exciting new technology that helps prevent these negative effects of impermeable surfaces such as standard concrete or asphalt. When properly installed on a permeable substrate, the water flow rate through the ROMEX®-System is comparable to that of pervious concrete at >3,3 m/h | 130+ iph.
Using ROMEX® systems, you can do your part to be environmentally friendly by allowing water to flow into the ground, not into the sewer system!
Water permeability means our paving jointing mortars are frost/heave resistant!
